Following additional funding received from the Scottish Government, we have agreed to provide financial support to pupils as follows:

Free school meals for pupils not attending school in person

The additional financial support provided for qualifying pupils in P1 to S6 over the Christmas school holidays was rolled on for the period 07 January 2021 to 19 February 2021.

From 22 February 2021 the arrangements for providing additional financial support for qualifying pupils are:

  • P4 to S6 pupils - payment will be made for eligible pupils in P4 to S6 as an alternative to the provision of a free school meal while your child is not in school. A daily payment of £3.50 per pupil will be paid.
  • Note: P1-P3 pupils will be offered a free school meal while attending school.

How will the payment be made to parents and carers?

We will make direct payments to your bank account, using the details we hold on your Free School Meals or Clothing Grant claim. If no bank details are held on file, payments will be issued by cheque.

When will I be paid?

Payment for each eligible pupil will be made on or around:

  • £24.50 paid on Friday 08 January 2021 for the period 07 to 15 January 2021
  • £35.00 paid on Friday 15 January 2021 for the period 18 to 29 January 2021
  • £17.50 paid on Friday 29 January 2021 for the period 01 to 05 February 2021
  • £17.50 paid on Friday 05 February 2021 for the period 08 to 12 February 2021
  • £17.50 paid on Friday 12 February 2021 for the period 15 to 19 February 2021
  • £17.50 paid on Friday 19 February 2021 for the period 22 to 26 February 2021
  • £17.50 paid on Friday 26 February 2021 for the period 01 to 05 March 2021

While payments should be received on these dates this may vary slightly depending on your bank and payment method. Parents and carers receiving payment will be emailed to confirm the payment.

Who is not eligible for this additional support?

Pupils not eligible for this are:

  • Pre-school pupils in early years establishments
  • P1-P3 pupils attending school (from 22 February 2021)
  • Those pupils in special educational settings where they receive a free meal through universal and not means tested provision.

Self-Isolation Payment

From 22 February 2021 any P1-P3 pupils who are self-isolating and who qualify for means tested free school meals will receive a payment of £3.50 per day for each school day missed within the overall 10 day period that they are advised by Public Health/Test & Protect to self-isolate.

How will the payment be made to parents and carers?

We will use the data we already hold on our information systems to make direct payment to your bank account using the details we hold on your Free School Meals or Clothing Grant claim. If no bank details are held on file, payments will be issued by cheque.

When will I be paid?

Payments should be made on or around Wednesday each week during term time. Parents and carers receiving payment will be emailed to confirm the payment.
