Coronavirus (COVID-19) has had an effect on our critical services and we are working hard to keep these running. The volunteering scheme for employees allows employees in non-critical roles to volunteer to work in critical roles to support delivery of essential services to council customers. Available opportunities will be advertised on this page.

If you work in a non-critical role, you can apply to work in a key role for some/all of your usual working hours:

  • You will need permission from your line manager
  • You will work your contracted hours

    Rates of pay

If you are undertaking these duties during your contracted working hours you will be paid your normal rate of pay (or the rate for the job if that is higher). If you are working additional hours or overtime you will be paid the rate for the job you are doing.

    Training

Training will be provided for the key roles. You should be available to complete up to 5 days training if your application is successful. Please note training could be face to face if the role requires it.

    How to apply

If you are interested in applying to help out with a critical role, you will be asked to complete a short application form.

You must seek approval from your line manager before applying.

    Volunteering posts

Please continue to visit this page as adverts for posts will change depending on Service needs at any given point in time.

Adverts will not necessarily have a closing date but may be withdrawn when sufficient applications have been received. If you miss applying for a particular post, keep checking back as the same post may be advertised again in future.

    Previous employees

To ensure we have sufficient staffing flexibility to maintain vital services to our community over the winter period, we are seeking to recruit additional employees for critical front line posts.

We have contacted those who were previously employed by Falkirk Council in one of these critical roles and have left the Council's employ (within the past year), to see if they have any interest in applying to help out with critical areas of work over this period.

Any period of employment will be at the current rate for the job.

Training will be provided, where required, for the key roles. Depending on role/previous experience, you should be available to complete up to 5 days training if your application is successful. Please note training could be face to face if the role requires it.

If you are interested in applying to help out with a critical role, please complete the leavers application form.

You should let us know which areas of work you would be interested in and your availability, then return the form to hrhelpdesk@falkirk.gov.uk. Early applications would be appreciated.

    Casual employees / supply staff

To ensure we have sufficient staffing flexibility to maintain vital services to our community, we are offering casuals/supply staff the opportunity to undertake additional hours to help our critical front line posts.

We have contacted those on our casual/supply lists to see if they have any interest in applying to help out with critical areas of work over this period where services are experiencing extreme pressure due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19.

Any period of employment will be at the current rate for the job.

Training will be provided, where required, for the key roles. Depending on role/previous experience, you should be available to complete up to 5 days training if your application is successful. Please note training could be face to face if the role requires it.

If you are interested in applying to help out with a critical role, please complete the casuals application form.
