The EU Settlement Scheme remains open for EU, EEA or Swiss employees and their families to apply if they want to continue living and working in the UK after 30 June 2021.

The deadline for applying is 30 June 2021, however if the UK leaves the EU without a deal, the deadline for applying will be 31 December 2020.

Application timescales

The Home Office are currently estimating that it takes around 5 working days for complete applications to be processed if no further information is required, but it can take up to a month. These timescales may increase with demand so it is important to apply as soon as possible.

If you apply using the Home Office EU Exit: ID document check app (available on the Google Play Store/Apple App Store), the processing time starts when you submit your online application.

If you post your identity document, the processing time starts when the Home Office receives your identity document. It is usually returned within 3 days of being received. This does not include the time your document is in transit. You should allow 10 days from sending your document.

If you plan to travel soon, you should wait until you return before sending any documents to the Home Office that you will require for travel.
