I wanted to provide you all with a brief update in relation to the position regarding Coronavirus and its impact on the Council. You will all be aware of the rapidly changing circumstances that are affecting people and communities across the country. I want to provide you with some reassurance about the steps we are taking to ensure your wellbeing, whilst we do our very best for the communities we serve.

The Corporate Management Team has a teleconference scheduled for each morning at 9.30am to review the latest position, determine necessary actions and consider communications requirements. This will be ongoing for the foreseeable future. All formal Council meetings have been cancelled through to 6 May. Non-essential meetings should be cancelled or video or teleconferences arranged in their place and non-essential travel is to be avoided. All services have reviewed their business continuity arrangements and decisions about the prioritisation and resourcing of services will be taken on this basis.

The primary source of information for employees will be the intranet and the employee section of the Council’s website. These will be updated on an ongoing basis. A section on frequently asked questions including attending work, leave arrangements, meetings, training, volunteering to assist with essential services, protective equipment and recruitment is being added today on the employee section of our website. Additional information relating to IT usage and facilities has also been shared. Comprehensive health guidance is available at NHS Inform.

At this challenging time, I want to thank you all for your hard work and dedication. It is essential that we work cooperatively and well across the Council and with partners in these difficult circumstances, supporting the critical services on which our communities rely.

If you have specific concerns please speak to your line manager in the first instance.

Kind regards

Kenneth Lawrie
