As communities all over the country continue to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to offer our sincere collective thanks to every single person and group who are pulling together for everyone across the Falkirk area right now.

Helping those in need

We’ve seen a massive response from volunteers and local communities to help get vital food and medicine delivered to those who are unable to help themselves due to their circumstances.

This response has been very impressive and greatly appreciated and demonstrates that fundamentally we really do care as a society and can come together in the harshest of times.

As well as helping individuals, our actions are also helping the emergency services such as the NHS by easing the strain and allowing staff to respond to the most serious cases knowing that their families are being supported in other ways.

A thank you to Council staff

We would also like to offer our sincere thanks to our own Council employees, hundreds of whom are working on the front line carrying out their important roles in difficult circumstances. These include refuse collectors, home carers, emergency repair teams, support for key workers and many other roles. Other employees are working from home providing support services to those who are isolated and at risk also.

This work continues and we would like to reassure communities that everything possible is being done to ensure these vital services carries on throughout this crisis.

How you can help

There are many support services available and if you feel you want to offer your services as a volunteer then please contact CVS Falkirk who can direct you to where you may be able to assist.

We know there is great anxiety and stress everywhere right now but by following the simple advice to remain at home, practice social distancing and only go out for exercise or essential supplies then we will get through this more quickly.

Finally, as we move forward, we know there will be more challenges ahead. We want to thank everyone who is helping now and in the future. You are making a real difference and we all owe you a massive debt of gratitude.
