Paul Wilson, Lead Chaplain

There are over 100 workplace Chaplains helping and supporting staff bereavement, depression and wellbeing in over 1500 workplaces across Scotland.

For the last year the chaplains have had to adapt to new ways of working and now offer their service via zoom, teams or can even have a chat over the phone.

We have all had to adapt to new ways of working over the past year which has been challenging in terms of our health and wellbeing. However, no-one needs to suffer in silence and the Chaplains are on hand to listen whenever you need to get anything off your chest.

If you are struggling and need someone to talk to, contact the Council’s Chaplain for a listening ear.

Paul Wilson who is Lead Chaplain for Work Place Chaplaincy Scotland (WPCS) said: “We were in the process of setting up the chaplaincy service with the Council prior to the lockdown in March 2020. However, while we can’t operate in the workplace due to the current restrictions, we can still provide a listening ear for staff who need to talk.

"We provide an independent and confidential service and can speak to any member of staff via online platforms or by phone. All of our Chaplains have had extensive training in wellbeing, resilience, bereavement, trauma and stress and are ready to listen to anyone who needs to talk.  Chaplains are there for anyone, regardless of faith or no faith, gender, sexuality, age, race or status."

Workplace Chaplaincy was set up in Scotland following the end of WW2 with Chaplains working in shipyards and coal mines. Now in the 21st century the majority of their work is in the service sector, public sector, retail, businesses, transport and many more.

Chaplaincy support is available now either by phone, email or by video link.
