Community groups and schools across the area are being urged to organise clean ups as part of Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Summer Clean campaign

The Council is backing this year’s campaign which launched at the end of May and lasts until 20th June with lots of equipment available to aid community clean ups.

Councillor Paul Garner, spokesperson for Environment said: “I’d like to thank everyone who organises litter picks and local cleans ups all year round. You are all doing a marvellous job keeping your communities clean and free from litter.

“However, we hope  that many more individuals and community groups will come on board during June to support Summer Clean 2021.

“We can provide lots of equipment to help with local clean ups and can uplift the waste that’s been collected. You can register your clean up on our website and we’ll be in touch to help in any way we can.”

Litter picks can be registered on the Council’s website.  Please give as much notice as possible so we can arrange to provide equipment which includes:

  • High-visibility vests
  • Litter pickers
  • Bags for collected materials

All litter picks should follow the latest Scottish Government COVID-19 guidance on the permitted numbers who can meet outdoors.
