The Provost’s annual Christmas appeal has now launched– last year, we managed to raise more than £4100 for families who are having a tough time financially.

Money raised this year will be given directly to those who need it most – it will make a real difference to families and young people who are experiencing financial hardship for different reasons.

Your donations will help parents like Nikki & Paul who explained: “We have to work around each other’s shifts so that one of us is home looking after Ella and Josh. Our take-home pay isn’t a lot. We do manage to pay the weekly bills leaving us with little to spare.  We always worry about birthdays and Christmas. This year will be harder as we moved house a few months ago.”

Working in partnership with Aberlour Child Care Trust, staff in our social work service, can reach those who are in most need of support. Money donated will be used to buy gift cards for toys, food, and other gifts for all ages.

Provost William Buchanan said: “Some parents were in tears when presents were delivered to them last year. They were so appreciative. Many were relieved that they could also buy food with the gift cards as they worried about how they were going to have enough to eat. Any donation, small or large, is welcomed.”
