Family fun at Carron Dams Local Nature Reserve

Come and join in with one or all of the activities on offer and discover for yourself what a wonderful place Carron Dams is.

  • Wild Tales – join our storyteller at the Story Shelter for some wild tales
  • Bushcraft – learn the basics of using nature to survive and thrive in the great outdoors
  • Treasure Hunt – decode the clues to take your own magical mystery tour around the Dams – there's a prize on offer if you can solve the riddle set by Larbert High School
  • Bug Hunt – find out about the fascinating bugs and beasties lurking in the Dams
  • Pond dipping – discover the incredible underwater world at the old curling pond
  • Plant Folklore – enjoy some tales about the plants living in the nature reserve
  • Seed bombs and wildflower planting – help us create a splash of colour at our new entrance into Carron Dams
  • Ideas Forge – a fun hands-on activity to generate ideas for our Carron Works! project celebrating Carron Ironworks, one of the most important industrial enterprises the world has seen
  • A journey through time – join our fact-packed walk around Carron Dams and hear about Carron Ironworks, its impact on the people living and working here, and how its products changed the world.

There is something for everyone. Children under 16 are welcome, but must be supervised by an adult. Sorry, no pets. Parking is available at Larbert High School's car park.

This is an outdoor event, so please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
