EIF Funding successes
Friends of Inchyra Park
Friends of Inchyra Park purchased a new trailer from the Environmental Improvement Fund to help support clean up activities and waste collected from litter picks. They are sharing the trailer with the Glitter community group who host regular litter picking events across Grangemouth.
Councillor Garner, Spokesperson for the Environment:
The Environmental Improvement Fund gives the opportunity for local groups, individuals and communities to come together to keep our environment clean and tidy. Not only will it promote sustainability and empower our communities, but it will also encourage people to take pride in their local area, so if you have an idea for a project, get in touch and apply!
Our Place Camelon and Tamfourhill
A Community safety consultation identified need to prioritise littering, fly-tipping and dog fouling throughout the local community. This led to the creation of the tidy clean and green campaign, tidy, clean and green group and development of a local litter action plan and the very recent formation of the Tidy, Clean and Green Community Group. Funding from the Environmental Improvement Fund will be used to implement a creative messaging project throughout Camelon and Tamfourhill working in partnership with local primaries and youth groups and community artists. Anti-litter signage, a mural and portable displays will be created in participatory workshops to create visible, accessible, and engaging artwork all focused on the theme of keeping the community: tidy, clean and green.
John R Hosie, Community Safety Engager, Our Place Camelon and Tamfourhill:
This is a great learning opportunity for local young people and will empower them to have a creative voice in promoting a cleaner, greener, and tidier Camelon and Tamfourhill. It is both an educational and an artistic programme with the overarching aim of facilitating sustainable environmental improvement for these local communities. This project builds upon the successful ongoing partnership between Falkirk Council and the Our Place project and through the award going to the Tidy, clean & Green community group this Project is an excellent example of community involvement and empowerment.
