Pictured: The fund will support projects such as community litter picks and clean-ups

A new fund has been set up to tackle litter, illegally dumped waste and dog fouling in the area.

The Environmental Improvement Fund supports projects that put a stop to unwanted waste in our public spaces, encouraging local people to Take Pride in Falkirk.

Now taking applications from Falkirk’s communities, the fund is open to individuals and groups, including schools, businesses and landowners.

Taking pride in Falkirk

Community clean-ups, fly-tipping prevention measures such as cameras, and waste disposal costs are all examples of projects the fund will aid.

The fund will see £50,000 allocated each financial year, with awards of up to £5,000 available.

Funding can be used for:

  • tools for regular clean-ups such as litter picking hoops, litter pickers or hi-vis vests
  • hire of waste equipment
  • waste disposal costs, such as private skip hire
  • barriers, local campaigns, signage, or camera equipment to prevent flytipping
  • clearance where land ownership cannot be easily established
  • to enhance or improve elements of an existing project

Other projects that prevent or clean up fly-tipping, litter or dog fouling will be considered. You can discuss your ideas with our Waste Services team: wasteservices@falkirk.gov.uk

Litter Strategy and Action Plan

With the introduction of Falkirk Council’s Litter Strategy and Action Plan, the committed funding is an investment in reducing incidents of flytipping, litter and dog fouling in the area.
