Falkirk Council is calling on local people to get active and support local traders this autumn, with the launch of a new programme which promotes a healthier, more environmentally friendly lifestyle.

Falkirk Council’s, Cllr Paul Garner, spokesperson for the Environment said: “I am delighted to say that we have received external grant funding to allow us to deliver a brand new Take the Right Route programme, which will encourage people who live and work in Falkirk and the District towns to lead a more active and sustainable lifestyle and support local traders throughout winter.

“This free to join programme runs from Monday 18 October 2021 until Sunday 20 February 2022.

“During the pandemic there was a noticeable rise in people being more physically active, and so we want to capitalise on this, whilst also encouraging people back on to public transport, where it is safe to so, and supporting a local economic recovery. The Take the Right Route programme will do all of these things.

“Participants will be able to convert their walking, wheeling, running, cycling and public transport journeys into a cash equivalent to exchange for local shopping vouchers, namely the Falkirk District Towns Gift Card. There will also be some fantastic prizes up for grabs.

“I urge everyone who lives or works in Falkirk to get involved in the Take the Right Route programme. By doing so, you will be supporting our local traders and can experience the benefits that being more physically active can deliver.”
