Grangemouth's Community Warning System is to be tested at 7pm on Wednesday 7 June 2023.

The biannual test follows maintenance work to the system, which will be conducted on Friday 2 June 2023.

No action required

The system, operated by the Grangemouth Industrial Complex’s Major Incident Control Committee (MICC), will sound warning tones and verbal messages during this maintenance and testing period.

Grangemouth residents and visitors will not be required to take any action.

In the unlikely event of an actual emergency taking place during the maintenance period, the transmission via the warning system will clearly indicate such an event and the public should “Go in, Stay in and Tune in”.

MICC chairman, Derek Brown said: “As part of our commitment to public safety we require to conduct maintenance work and testing of the Community Warning System to ensure it is in full working order.

"The Community Warning System plays an important part in alerting the public in the unlikely event of a Major Incident at any one of the partner companies in Grangemouth. Within the MICC, we consider the safety of the public to be paramount.”

About the Major Incident Control Committee

The Major Incident Control Committee, or MICC, has been supporting public safety at Grangemouth Industrial Complex since 1968.

It consists of technical experts from local companies operating in the complex, as well as partners such as the emergency services and Falkirk Council.

MICC Grangemouth is responsible for testing and maintenance of the Community Warning System installed in and around the industrial site.
