Falkirk Council received notification from the GMB union relating to industrial action across all of our schools and early years facilities on three consecutive days from Tuesday 26 to Thursday 28 September 2023.

It involves a wide range of staff in janitorial, catering, early years staff, support for learning assistants, school administration and pupil transport assistants.

As a result, most of Falkirk’s early learning and childcare centres and schools and all specialist additional support needs facilities, specialist provision classes and secondary additional support centres will be closed to children and young people on these dates.

Some schools and early learning and childcare settings will remain open to children and young people:

Early Learning and Childcare Centres Primary Schools (Including Nursery classes)

  • Camelon ELC
  • Glendevon ELC,
  • Parkhill ELC

Primary Schools

  • Bonnybridge PS
  • St Bernadette’s PS

Secondary Schools

  • Larbert HS (Partial)
  • Graeme HS

Whilst it is currently anticipated that the above establishments will open, the situation is subject to change prior to and during the course of the industrial action period.

Schools and early years facilities will directly inform parents of specific arrangements.

Where schools are closed to pupils, staff will provide online learning and activities across the three days. Further information about arrangements for online learning will be provided by your child’s school.

Letters have been sent to parents and carers in advance of the anticipated disruption. You can also check our school disruption page to keep up to date.

All schools will reopen as normal on Friday 29 September.
