Proposals which could transform the villages of Bonnybridge and Slammannan are set out in a report which will be discussed at a meeting of Falkirk Council on 6 December.
The report provides Members with proposals for the allocation of the £1 million Regeneration Fund and also provides key updates on the former Royal Hotel, Slamannan and the Falkirk Town Centre- Battle of Falkirk signage.
Highlighting the Council’s commitment to supporting smaller settlements facing economic and environmental challenges, the Regeneration Fund aims to bolster infrastructure and foster community-driven development in the five town centres and the villages of Bonnybridge and Slamannan.
If agreed, further work will be undertaken to look at the potential to further develop plans for pilot projects in both villages. Proposals, which are currently at feasibility stage, include:
- Slamannan – demolition of the Royal Hotel and creation of green space at this site, restoration of the village clock and historic interpretation and Public Realm Improvements to the main parade
- Bonnybridge – Improvements to Bonnybridge Toll roundabout and Memorial Park, public realm improvements, astroturf to Anderson Park and the installation of a new Pump Track
Michael McGuinness, Head of Growth, Planning and Climate said: “Our vision for improvements to both villages prioritises investment tailored to local needs and aspirations following a period of engagement with local residents and other key stakeholders. Community feedback has been central to the proposals, which will be presented to elected members next week.”
The report also provides an update on the Battle of Falkirk signage which was installed during the summer in Falkirk town centre for the 725th anniversary of the first Battle of Falkirk.
