There are 6 projects seeking funding in Bo'ness & Blackness:

    Bo'ness Community Bus SCIO

    Requested funding: £10,000

Our buses need to be accessible to all

We were set up by the community, for the community. Our aim is to make sure that our wee town has a sustainable public transport service that is accessible to all.

We understand that the very people we are trying to help, struggle to get on and off our buses due to the manual, heavy door and the rather high step.

So, we are looking to raise funds to help us to purchase a low-floor bus with electric doors.

Not only will this help those less able, but mums with buggies will be able to travel with less hassle too.

    3rd Bo'ness Scout Group

    Requested funding: £6,560

Scout Hall disabled access & electrical upgrade

Bo'ness is extremely fortunate to have an active Scout group and purpose-built hall, together with the many volunteers who make this possible. However, the building currently lacks disabled access and as a group that strives to be all inclusive, we wish to address this as a priority.

The lack of ramped access also limits the hall's use as an affordable, quality community space. It is additionally essential that the hall is maintained to safety standards and the electrical upgrade will ensure this, as well as reducing carbon emissions and improving outdoor lighting.

    Friends of Kinneil

    Requested funding: £84,340.78

    Kinneil Hidden Heritage Discovery Trail

Show your support for Kinneil Estate and the Friends of Kinneil, by voting for the main, playful phase of the Hidden Heritage Discovery Trail.

Community consultation has endorsed the detailed, costed plans to build 3 new installations along the trail: a medieval play village; a mining-themed discovery area with tunnels; and 'Train like a Centurion' Roman fitness/play equipment – they now just need funding!

Volunteers worked hard since 2019 on developing the trail in partnership with park managers and professional designers – already delivering interpretation panels, an audio guide, trail leaflet and video. Now help to make the final stages a reality.

    Bo'ness Rugby Club

    Requested funding: £9,300

    Bo'ness Rugby Legacy Project

Since 2011 Bo'ness Rugby has strived to build a rugby pipeline in our home town. A community focused club that is open to all we have developed an adult, colts and youth section with over 120 members at present.

Looking ahead to grow the club we are seeking funding for a generator and floodlights so we can have adequate and safe winter training facilities.

Currently we are unable to host evening sessions for the colts and youth in winter months. Securing this funding would enable us to build a lasting legacy in the town for the generations to come.

    The Barony Players

    Requested funding: £28,400

Raising the Roof & Opening the Doors of the Barony Theatre

The Barony Theatre is not just the home of first-class theatre in Bo'ness but also The Barony Youth Theatre, The Barony Film Society and Church@TheBarony. We want to make the building more welcoming and accessible to other local groups and individuals.

In order to do this, we want to keep the building in excellent condition and so we need your help to complete roof repairs, improve the exterior of the building, and make sure the building is Covid ready for when we welcome back audiences. We have been in the community for over 70 years and want to be there for the next 70 years.

    Bo'ness United Community Football Club

    Requested funding: £12,000

    Sheltered Seating Area

We would like to install a beautiful, sheltered seating area at our footballing home at The Murries, which enjoys breath-taking views over the Firth of Forth. This will be a great community resource to be used by our footballers, supporters, local residents and community groups.

The Murries is home to 325 young footballers, and has just introduced men's and ladies recreational teams, and walking football for the mature or less mobile player. BUCFC sits right at the heart of the community providing football and friendship to everyone, and this project would give our club and the community an almighty boost.
