| (a) | Grangemouth Refinery The Executive is asked to agree that:- (1) it is deeply worried about the future of the Grangemouth Refinery following recent news reports, believing it could have great consequences for local jobs and have a hugely detrimental impact on the local, Scottish, and British economy; (2) it is concerned about the lack of transparency from Grangemouth Future Industry Board about the efforts being made to try and save Grangemouth refinery; and (3) therefore calls on council officers to produce an Economic Impact Assessment on the potential closure of Grangemouth refinery to be presented to a future meeting of the Executive if an impact assessment is not being produced by Scottish Government or Scottish Enterprise; and (4) further calls for the Grangemouth Future Industry Board to give monthly updates regarding the future of Grangemouth refinery and their views and recommended actions to help save Grangemouth refinery. | (b) | Assaults Against Public Sector Staff The Executive is asked to agree:- (1) Its deep concern about news reports that 51 public-sector workers are verbally and physically assaulted every day in Scotland; (2) that it is further concerned that Falkirk Council saw the largest increase in the past 5 years, rising from 298 in 2018-19 to 826 in 2022-23; (3) that this trend coincides with the rise in assaults teachers are facing in classrooms across the Falkirk Council area; (4) that no members of staff should go to work fearing physical or verbal assault; and (5) that therefore, officers should urgently produce a plan to reduce the verbal and physical assault Falkirk Council staff are facing to be presented to a future meeting of the Executive.
