This meeting will be held in private. The scope of the Policy Development Panel is to develop a Tourism Strategy for the period 2015-2020 to replace the current tourism action plan for 2014. The strategy will generate the longer term thinking and industry co-operation needed to capitalise on the offers developed thus far and to maintain the growth momentum. This takes into account that the Council area had seen a build up of tourism facilities over the last 20 years, such as the Helix Park, John Muir Way and the Kelpies and that a holistic and longer term approach be taken to fully utilise the benefits from these tourism facilities. The draft strategy will be completed and approved by the Executive in November 2014. This first meeting will agree the scope of the Panel's work.
