Local residents will be asked their views on possible changes to licenses for hot food takeaways and taxi/private hire drivers.

At the moment taxi and private hire drivers can apply for a one year license and this will continue. However a review of the current policy could see the introduction of a new three year license for taxi/private hire drivers which would help streamline the administrative process and could lead to a reduction in application fees.

And licensing for hot food takeaways could also change with later opening times.

Councillor Jim Blackwood, spokesperson for Public Protection said: “Two short surveys are now on our website for both taxi and late hours catering issues.

“We are keen to hear views from local residents, trade and any other interested parties to ensure our new policies reflect public opinion.”

The current policies have been in place for some time and are now under review. Anyone interested in helping shape the future of licensing can complete a survey online at www.falkirk.gov.uk/cateringreview and www.falkirk.gov.uk/taxireview
