The on-going regeneration of Denny town centre received a boost recently (24 March 2015) with the awarding of a £4.7m contract for the construction of new buildings and other works.

Clark Contracts will start on site from April 2015 and will oversee work on 10 new retail units, modern library facilities with community room; increased and improved parking and; a new focal town square.

Work is expected to be complete in July 2017 however recently temporary relocated retailers within the town centre should be in place and trading by September 2016.

Other work to progress the other aspects of the regeneration of the town centre is continuing including a survey of residents in the Denny area on the location of the war memorial as well as the future for community use of the town centre.

The former 1960’s blocks were all demolished by the end of 2014 to make way for the new town centre. Falkirk Council recently secured a £1.4m grant award from the Scottish Government Capital Regeneration Fund towards the town centre regeneration project.

Councillor Dennis Goldie, spokesperson for Economic Development said: “This announcement helps the whole community move forward in seeing the delivery of a regenerated and transformed town centre for Denny. The contract with Clark Contracts includes five Modern Apprenticeship placements and we look forward to working with the company on this important development.

“The work will be of a high standard and will feature attractive buildings that will appeal to new and existing retailers.

“We’re grateful to the Denny community for helping us move towards what is a far brighter future for this important space.
