A team that helps to promote the Falkirk area as a destination for visitors from around the world has picked up a prestigious award for the second year in a row.

Representatives from Falkirk Council, Falkirk Community Trust, Falkirk Delivers, The Falkirk Wheel and Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway were awarded the ‘most appealing stand’ at the Visit Scotland Expo held in Aberdeen last week.

The Visit Scotland Expo brings thousands of tourism operators and buyers globally to one venue to highlight the tourist attractions that the Falkirk area has to offer along with the rest of Scotland.

Pete Reid, Falkirk Council’s Growth & Investment Unit Manager said: “The feedback we have had from national and international operators at the Expo was fantastic and many of them went out of their way to ensure that Falkirk was now included in future itineraries.

“The stand itself and our new recently launched VisitFalkirk.com website and Kinetic Falkirk film ensured that the Falkirk area’s attractions stood out from the hundreds of others and that we were able to help boost potential visitor numbers to our area as well as the amount spent with local businesses running into millions of pounds every year.

“The focus of the stand was undoubtedly the fabulous Kelpies maquettes and they were a real crowd pleaser.”

The stand was developed by Falkirk Council’s graphic designers and exhibitors were able to give away samples of locally made produce including ale as well as tablet and fudge by Mrs Tilly’s who recently located to Central Park, Larbert.
