Young people who have left care will have an opportunity to share their experiences at next week’s Leaving Care Festival.

Now in its second year, the event brings young care leavers past and present, together to celebrate their achievements.

The event has been organised by Falkirk Council’s Leaving Care team as part of National Care Leavers Week, which aims to highlight the needs of care leavers, raise public awareness and encourage cooperation between the agencies looking after young people.

The festival will be held at Falkirk Town Hall on Tuesday 20th October at 3.30 – 6pm.

Councillor Linda Gow, spokesperson for Health and Social Care said: “We had our first leaving care event last year which marked the tenth year of the service which has supported many vulnerable young people over the years.

“Once again we would like to invite young people who have left care to come along  to celebrate their achievements and share experiences of life during and after care.”

The event has been planned by young people and activities on the day include a photo booth, diary room, quizzes and pamper sessions.

Many local organisations will be on hand to provide information on a wide range of services including health, employment, further education, careers and benefits.
