Provost Tom Coleman, Convener of Falkirk Council passed away on Thursday 30 November at Forth Valley Royal hospital after a short illness. He was 72.

He was first elected to Falkirk Council in May 1999 as an SNP councillor and was appointed Convener of the Education and Leisure committee in 2001 until 2007. He remained a councillor between 2007 and 2017 and was elected Provost of Falkirk Council in May 2017.  He also held the post of portfolio holder for Economic Development.

Provost Coleman was married to Irene and had three grown up children.

Provost Coleman's funeral will take place on Friday 8 December at Falkirk Crematorium from 3.15pm.
