Communities within Upper Braes, Bo’ness & Blackness and Grangemouth are set to benefit from a new consultation aimed at capturing their views on local services, community assets and the environment.

The Falkirk Community Planning Partnership invites communities to rate various aspects of their local area, ranging from public transport and natural space to feeling safe and social contact. Residents will also have an opportunity to identify their priorities for action.

A number of community workshops are planned where residents are invited to drop in to hear more about the locality planning process, discuss issues within your neighbourhood in a group setting, and complete the survey. The workshop details are as follows:

  • Slamannan Community Centre                 29 January 2018                 6.30pm to 9.00pm
  • Maddiston Community Centre                  30 January 2018                  6.30pm to 9.00pm
  • Grangemouth Town Hall                            31 January 2018                 6.30pm to 9.00pm
  • Bo’ness Town Hall                                     1 February 2018                  6.30pm to 9.00pm

Workshops will also be held in Grangemouth High School, Braes High School and Bo’ness Academy to find out what young people think about their area. These workshops have been arranged in partnership with local secondary schools and Young Scot.

Stuart Richie, Director of Corporate and Housing Services, said: “Where we live has an important impact on our health and wellbeing. By working together to make improvements to our local places, we can improve the lives of everyone who lives there.

“It’s really important that we can get as much information as possible about the strengths and challenges of your local area, as this will help us work together to make improvements and to ensure services are delivered in an effective manner. We would encourage all residents in these areas to take part.”

The consultations are a part of a new Locality Planning process where local communities work together with public and third sector organisations to improve residents’ lives and the areas they live in.

The consultation will cover the Upper Braes, Bo’ness & Blackness and Grangemouth areas only over three weeks running between the 15th January and 2nd February. It can be accessed at  www.falkirk.gov.uk/yourplace
