Clean Green Action Team
The Clean Green Action Team (CGAT) is a new service that focuses on cleaning and improving local areas.
It tackles problem spots that need extra attention, such as litter, graffiti and overgrown spaces.
What the team does
CGAT works across the Council area to improve public spaces. This includes:
- removing litter and fly-tipping from problem areas
- clearing hard-to-reach dirt and debris
- removing graffiti
- picking up litter on rural roads
- cutting back overgrown vegetation
- improving neglected council-owned land
The team focuses on areas that need more support than routine services provide.
How it works in your area
- Each team covers specific local wards
- Staff work on planned tasks and urgent issues
The service is designed to act quickly and make visible improvements
Working with communities
CGAT works with local people and organisations to improve neighbourhoods, including:
- community groups
- volunteers
- local businesses
The support can be litter picking, removing weeds and vegetation or general clean-up of areas.
Ongoing updates
You'll be able to see progress through:
- updates from the council
- before-and-after photos
- case studies
What the team does not do
CGAT supports existing services but does not replace them.
The team does not usually:
- deal with housing estate litter or fly-tipping (handled by other teams)
- carry out repairs such as fencing or paving
- do routine grass cutting or tree work
- work on private land without agreement
- carry out enforcement work
How success is measured
The council tracks results using:
- street cleanliness scores
- amount of waste collected
- response times for graffiti removal
- feedback from residents
