Community Cohesion Integration Fund 2026-2027
1. Purpose of the Fund – Strengthening Community Cohesion
The Community Integration Fund aims to strengthen community cohesion across Falkirk by supporting local organisations to include and integrate New Scots within their activities between March 2026 and 31 March 2027.
The term New Scots includes refugees, asylum seekers, displaced individuals; those refused asylum who remain in Scotland, and people who may be stateless.
2. Why Community Cohesion Matters
Community cohesion relies on inclusive environments where people from all backgrounds feel valued and connected. Projects should build relationships, reduce isolation, promote shared participation, and address cultural misunderstandings.
3. Who the Funding Should Reach
Priority groups include:
- Resettled refugees
- Asylum seekers in dispersal or contingency accommodation
- Refugees granted leave to remain
- Displaced persons (e.g., Ukrainians)
At least 25% of participants must be Falkirk New Scots.
4. Priority Themes
Projects may focus on:
- Improving English
- Learning about the local community
- Cultural exchange
- Relationship-building
- Employment pathways
- Reducing intercultural barriers
- Improving wellbeing
- Sustainability
5. Barriers to Community Cohesion
- Lack of public understanding
- Cultural and religious needs
- Transport barriers
- Language barriers
- Grief, trauma and isolation
6. Funding Criteria
- Grants up to £20,000
- Minimum 25 sessions
- Falkirk Council may observe at least one session
- Eligible groups include charities, SCIOs, constituted groups, CICs with no private benefit
- Faith-based groups may apply but cannot fund religious practice
7. Sustainability Expectations
Projects must show how cohesion activities continue beyond the funding period.
8. Monitoring and Reporting
Receipts must be retained. End-of-award report due 31 March 2027.
9. Application Process
Submit the application form and documents to refugeeresettlement@falkirk.gov.uk. Do not spend funds until official approval is issued.
Closing date for applications
All applications must reach the above email address no later than 12 noon on Friday the 28 of March 2026. Once the panel has met and scored the applications, an email will be sent to inform you of the outcome.
