Falkirk Council has worked with local funeral directors to develop dignified funeral packages to help families manage funeral costs. 

Four local funeral directors currently take part in the arrangement, offering packages for cremation, direct cremation and burial. 

The packages cover a range of essential funeral arrangements, with families able to choose additional services at an extra cost. 

The Council does not provide or subsidise funerals. All arrangements are made directly with the participating funeral directors, who can confirm prices and explain what's included. 

Families are free to choose any funeral director. 

Additional services may be available at an extra cost. Families should discuss their requirements and confirm the full cost with their chosen funeral director before making arrangements.  

The Dignified package includes:

Cremation

• Collection of the deceased from within 50 miles
• Storage, preservation and preparation of the deceased
• Provision of coffin
• Provision of place of rest and viewing facilities
• All administrative arrangements relating to the funeral and payment
• Provision of hearse
• Arrangements on the day of the funeral
• Order of service
• Collection box
• Music played during service at Crematorium

Direct Cremation

• Collection of the deceased from within 50 miles
• Storage, preservation and preparation of the deceased
• Provision of coffin
• Provision of place of rest and viewing facilities
• All administrative arrangements relating to the funeral and payment
• Provision of hearse
• Arrangements on the day of the funeral

Burial

• Collection of the deceased from within 50 miles
• Storage, preservation and preparation of the deceased
• Provision of coffin
• Provision of place of rest and viewing facilities
• All administrative arrangements relating to the funeral and payment
• Provision of hearse
• Arrangements on the day of the funeral
• Order of service
• Collection box

What is not included:

• Embalming of the deceased
• Family cars
• Flowers or other tributes
• Provision of a celebrant
• Provision of the organist (cremation only)
• Visual tributes and webcasts (cremation only)
• Provision of a piper
• An intimation notice in the local press
