Housing Transformation
This page provides information on the range of activities being undertaken as part of the “Housing Transformation” programme which aims to transform and improve the housing services being delivered to tenants.
An update will be published every 2 months following the Housing Transformation Board meeting. Previous updates will remain available so colleagues can track progress over time.
These updates are intended for all staff. They explain what is changing, where the work of the Board is being focused and how the service is developing.
Why this work is underway
Housing services continue to face increasing demand, financial pressures and higher expectations around safety and compliance. At the same time, tenants rightly expect a service that is reliable, delivered to a good standard and consistent.
Improvement activity is focused on how the service operates in practice. This includes the turnaround of empty homes, repairs and maintenance standards, use of data and systems, customer communication and how teams are organised to deliver effectively.
Much of this work happens incrementally. The purpose of these updates is to provide visibility and context.
The role of the Housing Transformation Board
The Housing Transformation Board provides oversight of improvement activity across all services which contribute to the delivery of Housing.
It does not manage day-to-day service delivery. Operational responsibility remains with managers and teams. The Board's role is to set priorities, review performance, monitor risk and ensure that change is ambitious, coordinated and aligned with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
The Board meets every 2 months and reports to the Corporate Management Team.
What the updates will cover
Each update will summarise recent progress, outline current priorities and identify the next areas of focus. The emphasis of the updates is on clarity and practical impact rather than detail.
