This on-line training course is designed for all public sector staff irrespective of their role who may require information specifically around the protection of adults, and provides more specific information than that contained within the module "Protection – Basic Awareness".

This multi-agency awareness raising training has been developed by NHS Forth Valley and Falkirk Council Social Work Services, with representatives from Police Scotland and other partner agencies across Forth Valley. This module should take approximately 60 minutes to complete.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

  • Define and identify who may be an adult at risk
  • Identify types of harm
  • Carry out your duty to report any concerns about actual or suspected harm of an adult at risk.
  • Identify the procedures, guidelines and individuals in your service or organization that would support you in reporting concerns
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles within the adult support and protection legislation

This course will meet the basic needs of many staff within the public sector, for many other staff additional training, specifically covering more detailed areas of adult protection will be required.
