When you contact us, tell us you feel unsafe. We’ll prioritise your safety and discuss your options.

What we can do

We have a legal duty to help if you are experiencing abuse or are threatened with violence by someone you live with or used to live with. Abuse can be physical, sexual, psychological, emotional or financial.

We can:

  • arrange emergency accommodation if you need to leave quickly (including outwith normal working hours).
  • talk through your housing options, including help if you can stay safely at home
  • help provide you with specialist support from appropriate organisations

What to expect when you contact us

  • We will ask about your safety, your needs, and anyone else in your household.
  • We will agree immediate steps (for example, safe accommodation) and discuss longer‑term options.
  • If you need emergency help outside office hours, our out‑of‑hours service can arrange temporary accommodation. It operates 5pm–9am on weekdays, and all day at weekends and public holidays.
