Festive recycling and waste collection arrangements
Bin collections
Please note the following changes to bin collections over the festive period.
Green, Burgundy and Blue bins
Thursday 25 December and Friday 26 December 2025

If your bin collection falls on Thursday 25 December, Friday 26 December 2025, 01 January 2026 or 02 January 2026, check your bin calendar - collection days will change and may be earlier than usual.
Food waste, Black Box and AHP collection services

Bulky uplifts
The bulky uplift service is operating as normal over the festive period.
Any uplifts scheduled for Thursday 25 December and Friday 26 December 2025 will be completed on Monday 29 December 2025 onwards.
Any uplifts scheduled for Thursday 01 January and Friday 02 January 2026 will be completed on Monday 05 January 2026 onwards.
Brown bin (on-demand) collections
The last on-demand brown bin collection will take place on Friday 19 December 2025.
On-demand brown bin collections will restart on Monday 12 January 2026.
During this period on-demand brown bin requests should be made as normal, with any requests scheduled for uplift during this period, collected from 13 January 2026 onwards.
Residents should present their bins on 13 January 2026 and leave at the kerbside until serviced. Residents are also advised to check the brown bin page for any service updates from 13 January 2026 onwards.
Bin deliveries
Bin deliveries will be operating as normal over the festive period.
Any bin deliveries scheduled for Thursday 25 December and Friday 26 December 2025 will be completed on Monday 29 December 2025 onwards.
Any bin deliveries scheduled for Thursday 01 January and Friday 02 January 2026 will be completed on Monday 05 January 2026 onwards.
Household Waste Recycling Centres
Recycling centres will be open as shown below, with last entry 15 minutes before closing (eg 5:45 pm). Opening times may change due to bad weather and you must book your visit in advance.

Festive recycling top tips to reduce and recycle waste
- Reuse your Christmas food leftovers with top tips for leftover recipes available - Love Food Hate Waste. Recycle any food scraps in your grey food caddy (including carcasses, bones, seafood shells, nutshells and brussel sprouts).
- Christmas cards and wrapping paper without glitter or embellishments can go in the burgundy bin. Foil/ plasticised/ glittery cards and wrapping paper should be placed in the green bin.
- Real Christmas trees and real holly wreaths (bauble and ribbon free) can be recycled at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
- Synthetic Christmas tree – reuse next Christmas, donate to a charity shop or take to your Household Waste Recycling Centre.
- Recycle old or broken electrical items at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre or to the shop where your new item was bought.
- Batteries and small electrical items can be recycled in your Black Box.
- Donate unwanted presents to reuse organisations or to a local charity shop.
- Food cans and dried goods can be donated to your local food bank. Make sure these are unopened and in date.
Remember
- Recycling and waste bins should be presented by 6:30am on the kerbside with the lids closed.
- Recycling and waste presented beside your bin will not be collected. All material must be placed in the container. Excess material can be taken to your local recycling points or your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
- No plastic bags should be placed in either the burgundy bin (paper and card) or blue bin (plastics, cans or cartons). If you use plastics bags to collect your materials, please tip the content into the bin and place the emptied plastic bags in the green bin (general waste).
- Please report any missed collections within 24 hours.
