Larger green bins
If your household is fully utilising all available kerbside recycling services and is still struggling to cope, there is an option to apply for a larger green bin.
Larger green bin applications are considered on an individual basis, with all households required to complete a waste audit diary, with the detail submitted as part of the online application process.
This service is for households who have specific needs, such as managing additional waste resulting from a medical condition.
Your online Application
First step - Download the guidance document, and waste audit diary - complete the diary over a 2-week period before starting your larger green bin online application.
Next step
Once you have completed your waste audit diary please retain for your records and transfer the captured information to the online application and have ready to upload any supporting evidence required (as detailed in the guidance document).
Please note that completion of the application form is not a guarantee that your application will be accepted.
Top tips
- Please do not put food waste in your green bin. Your food waste can be recycled using the weekly kerbside food waste collection service.
- If your household needs help with the disposal of nappies or incontinence products, why not try our Absorbent Hygiene Product (AHP) service.
- Any materials that can be recycled in the burgundy bin, blue bin, brown bin or black box must not be placed in your green bin.
What happens next?
Once we receive your completed waste application form, it will be reviewed, and you will be notified within 7 working days, the outcome of your request.
