Community projects
Unpaid work provides individuals who have been convicted of an offence the opportunity to give back to their local communities through projects that deliver meaningful community benefits. This work is supervised by Unpaid Work Supervisors within Justice Services.
If you are aware of a community project that could benefit from support through unpaid work, we encourage you to get in touch. We are particularly interested in projects that provide clear benefits to the community. All proposals are carefully assessed to ensure they are appropriate and suitable before any work begins.
We continue to review the delivery of unpaid work services in Falkirk to ensure they remain equitable, appropriate, efficient, and visible within our communities. To support this, we ask all requesters to be mindful of the following criteria governing unpaid work activities:
- Unpaid work can only be carried out on public land or in public buildings.
- Unpaid work can only be undertaken for non-profit organisations or registered charities.
- Unpaid work cannot support private individuals.
- Unpaid work must not replace or reduce genuine opportunities for paid employment.
- No trees may be felled without written permission from Falkirk Council (trimming is permitted where appropriate).
- Community Payback signage will be displayed, where appropriate, to highlight the positive impact of this work within the community.
Please note that while we can provide a workforce and tools, the cost of materials will be the responsibility of the requester. Our staff will discuss this with you in more detail.
