"Teamwork, wellbeing and confidence” shine through at Nethermains Primary and Nursery

Nethermains Primary School and Nursery Class in Denny has been commended for its ‘welcoming atmosphere, strong relationships, and motivated pupils’ in a report published recently (29 April 2025) by Education Scotland.
The inspection in February 2025 assessed many areas of the school and nursery, rating each category as 'good' and highlighted the following key strengths:
· Senior leaders work effectively with staff to ensure children experience consistently positive relationships
· Staff work together well to improve outcomes for children and families, underpinned by the school’s values.
· Children's wellbeing needs are understood thoroughly by staff, ensuring pupils feel safe and cared for
· Pupils are confident, respectful, and welcoming to visitors, demonstrating pride and positive engagement in learning
· Nursery children are motivated, creative and curious, and eager to learn as they play.
Headteacher Grace Law said:
This report reflects the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our pupils, and the supportive environment we've built together here at Nethermains.

“The teamwork and dedication of our school staff continue to make a significant, positive impact on children and families, and it is encouraging to see both pupils and staff continue to flourish.
Inspectors additionally raised a few areas for improvement, which included continuing to raise attainment in literacy and numeracy, ensuring lessons at the primary stage are suitably challenging, and refining nursery planning to clearly focus on developing specific skills. Staff will also receive support in accurately assessing children's progress.
Education Scotland expressed confidence in Nethermains Primary School and Nursery Class’s ability to continue making improvements, and confirmed no further inspections are required.
Parents and carers will remain informed of ongoing progress as part of their school reporting arrangements.
