Your future career starts with Falkirk Connected

We can help local young people gain work experience and training to start their careers.

Our Employment and Training Unit has a proven track record helping young people gain the skills, work experience and qualifications they need to get a modern apprenticeship or compete in the job market. We do this by working with a range of employers from a wide range of occupational areas.

A variety of employability programmes are available and eligibility depends on work experience, qualifications and personal circumstances. All trainees will receive an allowance on our programmes and will have the opportunity to progress to a modern apprenticeship or further employment.

As part of the programme, young people will also take part in the Falkirk Employability Award which builds work-based core skills and demonstrates job readiness to employers.

Employability programmes are available in the following areas:

  • Business Administration
  • Customer service
  • Food Production
  • Hairdressing
  • Health and Social Care
  • Hospitality and Catering
  • Land Based Activities - Grounds Maintenance, Landscaping and Horticulture
  • Recycling and Waste management
  • Retail
  • Warehousing

We are keen to receive applications from enthusiastic people for all of the above areas. To be eligible, applicants must be:

  • A resident in the Falkirk Council area
  • Currently unemployed or working less than 16 hours per week
  • Aged 16-24 years (some older clients may be eligible if referred through Jobcentre Plus)
  • Not currently participating on the work programme
  • Not currently participating in a Further Education or Higher Education Course or other National Training Programme
