Bulky household waste collections

Items that are too big to fit in your bin

We offer a service to collect bulky household items that are too big to fit into a wheeled bin, black box, cannot be transported to one of our recycling centres or donated through the National re-use phone line.

We will accept a maximum of 5 items per uplift from outside the front of the property.

There is a charge of £50.00 per bulky uplift.

Eligible residents in receipt of means tested Council Tax reduction (excluding discount for single occupancy) are entitled to one uplift per year (from 1 April 2025 -31 March 2026) at a discounted rate of £25.  Any additional uplift requests will be charged at full rate.

Advice for Bulky Uplift bookings

  • Carpets: Cut carpets into liftable sections (approximately 4ft lengths), roll them up and tie them closed. Do not present loose carpets.
  • Glass & mirrors: Ensure tape is applied to any glass and mirrors including framed windows. Tape to be from corner to corner.
  • Wood & laminated flooring: Straps of wood should have nails removed and should be tied together into liftable bundles. Do not present wood and laminate flooring loose.
  • Fridge freezers: All food items must be removed before presenting for collection.
  • POPS items: Tape up any damaged, ripped or torn items which may contain POPS.
