Free period products
This notice provides details of what information we collect from you, what we do with it, and who it might be shared with.
Why do we collect this information?
The information is being collected for the following purposes:
- To be able to provide you with free period products by way of online ordering (orders fulfilled by our suppliers).
- To enable us to monitor, assess and improve the service provided.
- Where you consent to the collection of demographic information, to enable us to assess the reach of the service.

The Council will have a legal duty under the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2020 to make period products available for those who need them. In the meantime, the Council provides free period products as a welfare service.
What information do we collect about you?
We collect your name, address, email address and postcode so that products can be sent directly to you. We will use the postcode data for mapping purposes to better understand areas of demand.
Where you consent, we will also collect information about your age, gender, ethnicity, and any disability. This will be anonymised and used only for the purposes of assessing the reach of the service.
Where do we collect information from?
We collect information from you, when you complete the Request free period products form.
Who might we share your information with?
We collect information and send address details to our suppliers where required who will fulfil the orders. We do not share your information with anyone else, unless we are required to do so by law. In some instances, you will provide your details directly to our suppliers.
The Council has a duty to protect public funds. We may check your information within the Council for verification purposes and/or for the prevention of fraud.
We may share your information with other organisations where we are required to do so for the purposes of the prevention or detection of crime.
Will we send your information outwith the UK?
Falkirk Council will not send your information outwith the UK. The address details and not the demographic information are collected by Grace and Green for processing your orders.
How long do we keep hold of your information?
Our suppliers will keep your information for 60 days from delivery and will delete the information after this time.
We will keep your personal information for 6 months maximum to fulfil orders.
Any postcode and demographic information will be retained only on an anonymised basis for 6 years maximum to help us to map our services to meet the needs of people in Falkirk.
Do I have to provide my personal data to you?
You do not have to provide information to us, but we will not be able to provide you with products.
Do you use any automated processes to make decisions about me?
We do not use automated decision making processes.
