This falls within the Council's power to advance well-being under the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003. A baby naming ceremony is a special way of celebrating your child’s birth and welcoming the new arrival into the family. It is an opportunity to declare, before family and friends, your promise to your child and an opportunity for adult friends, chosen by you, to pledge their special relationship with your child.
What information do we collect about you?
We collect your name and contact details (which may be a postal address, email address and/or phone numbers), child’s name and date of birth. We also keep copies of your communications with us and our responses.

We collect information from you.
Who might we share your information with?
We do not share your information with anyone else, unless we are required to do so by law.
The Council has a duty to protect public funds. We may check your information within the Council for verification purposes and/or for the prevention of fraud. We may share your information with other organisations where we are required to do so for the purposes of the prevention or detection of crime.
Will we send your information outwith the UK?
We do not transfer your information outwith the UK.
How long do we keep hold of your information?
We keep your information as long as required by law or by our business requirements. We have a Business Classification Scheme in place which sets out the types of records we hold, and how long we hold them - you can access the relevant part of the scheme below.
Do I have to provide my personal data to you?
You do not have to provide this information, however, we will not be able to facilitate a naming ceremony without it.
Do you use any automated processes to make decisions about me?
We do not use automated decision making processes.
