Aimed at Private Sector landlords, our 2025 survey ran from 24 February 2025 - 31 March 2025 and hoped to find out about demand, future plans, feedback on current and future actions as well as topics for 2025 publications and events. Our 2025 Landlord Survey report shares the received feedback.

In 2024, the Private Sector Team raised awareness about a Scotland wide survey launched by Scotland's Housing Network. The survey was aimed at Landlords and Letting Agents with the purpose of exploring the characteristics, experiences and how privately rented accommodation was let, managed and maintained. The reports below provide feedback on results of the national survey as well as analysis of the anonymised findings received across Falkirk.

The Local Housing Strategy (LHS) is the main strategic document for housing. It sets out our priorities and plans for delivery of housing and housing related services. Please see our Local Housing Strategy 2023 - 2028 page for information.

During October 2022, we launched 3 private sector surveys to help develop our 2023-2028 LHS and understand the different elements of Private Sector Housing.

The summary reports below present the feedback we received from the surveys. These findings have been fed into our 2023-28 LHS.

Aimed at Landlords and Letting Agents between 26 October 2022 - 31 January 2023.

Aimed at Private Sector Tenants between 26 October 2023 - 31 January 2023.

Aimed at Owner Occupiers, Private Tenants and Landlords between 26 October 2023 - 28 February 2023.

During 2023/24 the Private Sector Team issued a Tenant Engagement Survey to 6,488 private sector tenants. 254 survey responses were received, which represents a response rate of 4%. The purpose of the survey was to:

• Raise awareness of the Private Sector Team 
• Provide information on Property Conditions and ensure the relevant safety checks have been carried out 
• Provide Renting Rights information 
• Engage with private tenants to better understand the private rented sector 

Property conditions: We asked tenants to rate the condition of their Private Let. Overall, 81% rated the condition of their property as very good or good.

Actions taken: Feedback highlighted 39 separate health and safety issues. The Private Sector Team created 8 action plans to address these issues directly with landlords. Two of these properties were found to be Below Tolerable Standard.
