All 3 and 4 year olds living in the Falkirk Council area are currently entitled to 600 hours of high quality early learning and childcare.
We offer nursery places in:
ELC Nursery Classes – located in primary schools, managed by the primary school head
teacher and offering school term time places. Nursery classes operate morning and afternoon sessions. Typical sessions are 3hrs 10 minutes. Your child may have a place in either a morning or afternoon session. Terms at nursery classes attached to primary schools are the same as the school term so your child receives early learning and childcare during the school term time only.
Early Learning & Childcare Centres – are open all year round from 8am to 6pm. Most of these centres provide places for babies, toddlers and 3 to 5 year olds, to enable parents to work, undertake training or further education. These nurseries can provide up to 16 hours of free early learning and childcare per week for each child in their pre and ante pre school years.
Early Learning & Childcare Partner Providers – We are in partnership with a number of private nurseries across Falkirk where you will also be able to use your child's 600 hours of free early learning and childcare and additional childcare hours to meet the needs of your family. Childcare must be arranged first before early learning sessions can be added. Please contact these providers directly to discuss.
Our nurseries and partner providers are registered with the Care Inspectorate formerly known as the Care Commission. They are inspected by both Care Inspectorate and Education Scotland with the reports being published online.
Each nursery offers a safe and structured environment for your child. They have
well qualified staff and operate to high standards. All Falkirk Council nursery services are delivered by Children's Services. The links below provide further information:
There are a variety of options for children to have a 'blended' ELC pattern with a maximum of 2 providers. For more information, please contact the ELC Admissions Team.
Please note: Scottish Government are increasing the amount of ELC hours that children are entitled to by August 2020. We are currently in the process of phasing this in across all establishments. For more information please refer to ELC expansion – 1140 by 2020.
