Tenant support

If you're finding it hard to manage your home, worried about your tenancy, or at risk of becoming homeless, support is available. This page explains what housing support is, who can get it, and how to ask for help.

You do not need to wait until you are in crisis. Support is confidential, free, and designed to help you stay safely in your home.

What the Tenancy Sustainment Service does

The Tenancy Sustainment Service, delivered locally by Wheatley Care, helps people:

  • stay safely in their home
  • prevent homelessness
  • understand their housing options
  • prepare for a new tenancy
  • settle into permanent accommodation

We can support:

  • first‑time tenants
  • people leaving homelessness or temporary accommodation
  • anyone who needs help to keep their home

What housing support can help with

Housing support is practical support to help you manage day‑to‑day in your home. It does not provide personal care such as shopping or cleaning, but staff can refer you to other services if needed.

We can help with:

  • rehousing options and resettlement
  • maximising income and budgeting skills
  • addressing rent arrears
  • arranging minor repairs
  • preparing for independent living
  • referrals to health, financial, or social support services
  • managing letters and official documents
  • accessing furniture and applying for grants
  • finding services and support in your local community

Who can get housing support?

You may be eligible if you are:

  • over 16 and living in the Falkirk Council area
  • in a council, housing association, private rented tenancy, or your own home
  • living in temporary accommodation
  • at risk of homelessness or struggling to manage your tenancy

If you're unsure whether you qualify, please contact us — we will advise you.

What happens next?

Once we receive a referral, we will:

  • contact you to arrange an assessment
  • discuss the challenges you're facing
  • agree the type of support you need

Wheatley Care will then create a support plan with you. This will be reviewed regularly to make sure you’re getting the help you need.

Support continues for as long as it is required.
