Cycle training
We strongly support cycle training as it plays an important part in increasing levels of cycling. It is important for children cycling to school, but also for adults cycling as commuters and for leisure.
Training available
The types of training available in the Falkirk Council area are:
Bikeability Levels 1 and 2
What used to be known as 'Cycling Proficiency'. Now updated and offered to primary 6 and 7 in all Falkirk Council schools.
Children's Bike Club
Specialist training offered 3 times a year for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and as an after school club by NHS Forth Valley Children's Occupational Therapy Unit.
Cycle Training Assistant (CTA)
A flexibly delivered course offered to volunteers and school staff who wish to become involved in supporting I Bike and delivering Bikeability Scotland cycle training in schools and for youth groups.
Guided Ride Leader Training
Offered to volunteers and school staff who wish to help with the development and running of guided cycle rides in the Falkirk Council area.
Commuter Cycle Training
Offered to all Falkirk Council staff and available to employees of local businesses.
Essential Cycle Skills (ECS)
Offered free of charge; a 4 hour refresher course for returning cyclists and those less confident in cycling in traffic. Contact Falkirk Council's Cycling Officer for details.
Cycle Maintenance Training
Training by Recyke-a-Bike in basic and advanced cycle maintenance.
