We monitor the supply of land for housing and produce the Housing Land Audit (HLA) annually. The HLA estimates the number of houses to be built each year in the Council area. The housing supply target and requirement are set out in the Falkirk Local Development Plan.

The Falkirk Council area has enough housing sites in the Housing Land Audit to build 2761 units to 2025 (4.5 years supply based on the housing land requirement) and a further 4258 units after that. A number of additional sites with indicative capacity for 1539 units are not counted as contributing to the housing land supply. There are enough sites in the HLA, the Local Development Plan and anticipated windfall development to meet the target of 6894 units between 2017 and 2030.
