Falkirk Child Protection Committee
The Falkirk Child Protection Committee (CPC) is part of the wider Public Protection arrangements in Falkirk.
The CPC is a locally based, multi-agency strategic partnership. It leads on the development, implementation, and improvement of child protection strategy across agencies and within the local community.
Our aim is simple: to keep all children safe from abuse and neglect and to make Falkirk the best place in Scotland to grow up. We support both professionals and members of the public to work together in this shared responsibility.
The Committee is made up of senior representatives from key agencies with responsibilities for children's care and protection, including:
- Education
- Social Work
- Housing
- NHS Forth Valley
- Police Scotland
- Third Sector organisations
- Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA)
The CPC is independently chaired and meets four times a year. It reports to the Public Protection Chief Officers Group, whose responsibilities are set out in Protecting Children and Young People: Child Protection Committee and Chief Officer Responsibilities (Scottish Government, 2019).
The CPC also works in line with the National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland (2021). It fulfils its responsibilities through its sub-groups and through the CPC Business and Improvement Plan.
