Housing Land Audit
We monitor the supply of land for housing and produce the Housing Land Audit (HLA) annually.
The HLA estimates the number of houses to be built each year in the Council area. The 10 year housing supply target is established by the Minimum All-Tenure Housing Land Requirement (MATHLR) in National Planning Framework 4. This is 5,250 for Falkirk.
The Falkirk Council area has enough housing sites in the Housing Land Audit to build 3,454 units to 2030 and a further 2,407 units after that. A number of constrained sites with indicative capacity for 1,695 units are not currently counted as contributing to the housing land supply.
There are enough sites in the HLA, the Local Development Plan and anticipated windfall development to meet the target of 5,250 units between 2020 and 2030.
