The Planning (Scotland) Act 2019 states that planning authorities must prepare a report on their performance on an annual basis. This process has been piloted during 2024/25, with planning authorities undertaking performance assessments and preparing improvement plans in line with guidance from the Improvement Service. As part of the process authorities carried out peer review workshops with a range of customers of the planning system to inform the performance assessment.
