Maddiston Primary repairs
The school is now expected to reopen in August 2028, one year later than previously planned.
We know this will be disappointing news. We are sorry for the frustration and uncertainty this may cause and thank you for your continued patience and support.
Why has the reopening been delayed?
As repair work progressed, engineers found additional building problems that were not visible during earlier inspections.
These issues must be repaired to make sure the school is safe, meets current standards and provides a suitable learning environment for pupils and staff.
Because more work is needed than originally expected, the project will take longer to complete.
What happens next?
Planning is already underway for arrangements during the 2027 to 2028 school year.
We will continue to work with school leaders, staff and partner schools to:
- maintain high-quality learning and teaching
- minimise disruption for pupils
- support children's wellbeing
- provide families with as much certainty as possible
Parent information meeting
We will hold an online information meeting on Monday 24 August 6pm to 7pm.
The project team will:
- explain the additional issues found in the building
- provide more information on the revised timetable
- outline future arrangements
- answer questions from parents and carers
Keeping you informed
We will continue to provide updates as the project progresses and share information about arrangements for the 2027 to 2028 school year as soon as it is available.

Teachers and staffing
Children in mainstream classes would normally move to a new teacher at the start of each school year. The school will confirm class teachers before the new session begins.
Support for Learning teachers and assistants will continue to work across all school locations. Staffing arrangements are being planned to provide consistency for children and, where possible, familiar adults to support them.
Learning and support
Supporting children's learning, wellbeing and achievement remains our priority.
Although these arrangements are different from those originally planned, staff have worked hard to create positive learning environments across all locations. Children will continue to access the full curriculum and receive the support they need to make progress in their learning.
We will continue to work closely with pupils, families and staff to minimise disruption and provide the best possible educational experience during this period.
