Work begins on Falkirk Council’s largest new housing development
Groundworks have been completed and construction is now underway at the former Denny High School site, marking a major milestone in the Council’s house building programme.
The £36 million development will deliver 137 high-quality, energy-efficient homes for social rent, helping meet growing demand for affordable housing across the area.
Site preparation and infrastructure works began in December 2025. Designed and project managed by the Council's in-house architects, the development is being built by Clark Contracts Ltd and is expected to be completed by November 2028. All new homes will be advertised nearer that time in line with the Councils allocations policy.
The development will provide homes to meet a range of housing needs, including 22 one-bedroom homes, 63 two-bedroom homes, 41 three-bedroom homes, 10 four-bedroom homes and one five-bedroom home. Of the 137 homes, 25 will be designed to ambulant standards and seven will be fully wheelchair accessible.
The project is supported by £14 million of Scottish Government grant funding, with the remaining investment provided by the Council.

During 2024/25, 111 homes at Woodend Farm in Hallglen were delivered. In addition, a further 49 homes were brought back into Council ownership. The former Denny High School development represents the next major phase of the Council's housebuilding programme.
