A brand-new playpark is coming to Kinneil Estate, thanks to a £200,000 investment that will transform the site into a fun, inclusive space for local families and visitors.

Over the summer, a consultation took place and local residents shared their views on what they wanted to see in a new playpark. People asked for a space that works for all ages and abilities with separate areas for toddlers and older children, inclusive equipment and improved safety features such as full enclosure and working gates.

Respondents also asked for more seating and picnic areas, better use of space, and modern, themed designs reflecting the local heritage.

In August 2025 four companies were invited to develop designs based on the feedback, with residents then voting for their preferred option earlier this month. A total of 367 votes were cast, with Proludic emerging as the clear winner, receiving 46% of the vote (167 votes). Their design will now move forward to the build stage with work due to get underway in January 2026.

The new playpark will include a mix of traditional and adventure-style play equipment such as climbing frames, swings, and slides, as well as sensory and accessible play features suitable for children with additional needs.

A Roman-inspired theme will celebrate the area’s rich history and location near the Antonine Wall, blending play with local heritage. The design also includes new seating, picnic areas, and open space for free play.

In a nod to the park’s history, the winning design retains and restores the vintage rocking horse – a favourite and much-loved feature that has entertained generations of local children.

Councillor Paul Garner, Falkirk Council’s Depute Leader said:

This is a great example of how local feedback can directly shape investment in our parks.

“The community told us what mattered most - a safe, accessible, and enjoyable space for children of all ages - and that’s exactly what this project will deliver.

“Kinneil Estate is a much-loved part of Bo’ness, and this investment will make it an even better place for families to spend time together.
