Events to mark Demystifying Death Week

The events will run between 4-10 May.

A series of events are taking place across the Falkirk area next month to mark Demystifying Death Week (4-10 May 2026), a national programme encouraging open conversations about dying, death and bereavement. 

The events are open to all residents, but spaces are limited. Booking in advance is essential for all events.

  • 5 May | Crematorium Tour | 2pm and 3pm 
    A guided tour of Falkirk Crematorium led by the Crematorium Manager. Appointment only. 10 spaces available per tour
  • 6 May | The D Word @ Falkirk Crematorium | 5pm-6.30pm 
    Gillian Robertson, Founder of The D Word, presents "What Happens When Someone Close Dies". The session is followed by tea, coffee and open conversation
  • 8 May | Camelon Cemetery Tour | 5pm-6.30pm 
    A guided walk through Camelon Cemetery with local historian Geoff Bailey, exploring its history and the stories behind it. Appointment only. Limited spaces available
  • 9 May | Crematorium Tour | 10am and 11am 
    A further guided tour of Falkirk Crematorium led by the Crematorium Manager. Appointment only. 10 spaces available per tour 

Douglas Gardiner, Head of Environment and Operations, said:

Death and bereavement affect us all, yet they can be difficult subjects to raise.  

“These events give people a chance to ask questions, learn more, and have conversations they might not know how to start. We'd encourage anyone who is curious to come along and take part.
